5 bargain transfers Leeds can seal this summer – Prem winners to Farke reunion

Farke's ambitions can now be realised by Leeds pulling off a superb summer on the transfer front with some areas of the squad in need of surgery. Here, we take a look at five stars Leeds can sign who are in the last year of their deals at their current clubs.

Liverpool's Elliott, 23, can play off the right and behind the forward line as a natural No. 10. The former Fulham player is entering into the last year of his deal at the Reds and spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, although he struggled to make an impact, making just nine appearances.

Villa had an agreement with Liverpool to sign Elliott for £35m if he played 10 games. His valuation may have fallen significantly with a year left on his deal. Reports of Leeds' interest has surfaced over the summer with the Whites said to be monitoring the player’s situation.

Elliott is not a certainty to leave Liverpool at this stage, however, with their new head coach Andoni Iraola wanting to run the rule over his new squad. If Elliott does move, Leeds could face competition from RB Leipzig, Sunderland, Ipswich and Coventry City.

Some time on from their reported interest, Leeds could finally make a move for Argentine playmaker Emiliano Buendia. The 29-year-old spent the 2024/2025 season out on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, after falling down the pecking order at Aston Villa.

However, he burst back onto the scene at Villa last season, scoring and assisting in the Europa League final victory over SC Freiburg. Leeds were repeatedly linked with bringing the attacking midfielder to Elland Road in 2025.

Farke, of course, is familiar with the player after managing him at Norwich. They could now rekindle their interest in Buendia, who is set to enter the final year of his deal in the Midlands, with his value standing at just under £14m, according to reports.

Leeds' hunt for a natural No. 10 could lead them to Takumi Minamino. The former Liverpool and RB Salzburg star won six Austrian Bundesliga titles with the latter.

He also picked up a Premier League winners' medal at Anfield in 2020. Minamino, 31, missed the World Cup for Japan after picking up an ACL injury in December while playing for Monaco.

However, with a full pre-season under his belt, the forward could be fit and firing around September if his rehabilitation goes to plan. Leeds could bring in the Japanese international for around £8m, as per Transfermarkt.

The Whites are in the market for a new goalkeeper after losing Karl Darlow to Manchester United on a free transfer. Illan Meslier has also joined Arsenal, and while Leeds are closing in on the signing of James Trafford from Manchester City, back-up is needed with Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns left on the books.

The 24-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper Soares could have grown tired of playing second fiddle to the Ukrainian Anatoliy Trubin at Benfica, making a move likely this summer.

He first came to prominence after helping win the 2021–22 UEFA Youth League and is now in the last year of his deal. His age and rumoured price tag of around £4m could make him a shrewd investment.

If Leeds are looking for Premier League experience at a knock-down price they should look no further than Leno. The 34-year-old represented Arsenal for four seasons before making the move to Fulham, where he has been the Cottagers' No. 1 since 2022.

Now into the last year of his deal, the German international has been linked with a move back to Germany with Stuttgart. According to Transfermarkt, his value currently stands at around £5m, making him a bit of a no-brainer when it comes to bringing in vast experience on the cheap.
