Leeds position on Ramazani as new signing set to join squad - Johnson’s notebook

Leeds United jetted off to Florida from Manchester Airport on Tuesday as they emabrk on their US sumemr tour - and transfer activity has since gone sky high.

Talks with Manchester City for James Trafford are in the works and the noises all sound good. Leeds are still in ongoing discussions with Julian Brandt, whose father visited Thorp Arch last week, albeit he has visited other clubs too. The Whites await a decision.

As for Shea Charles, Leeds have tabled an improved but undisclosed final offer for the Southampton midfielder that will remain active throughout the window but the club will not be going any higher.

Meanwhile, current Leeds players landed in Tampa earlier this week, with new boy Tarik Muharemovic joining up with the squad imminently following his post-World Cup holiday. After playing Wrexham this weekend, the club travels to New Jersey.

They will train at the New York Red Bulls complex and fan engagement opportunities are to be held before they move onto Chicago next week. Leeds being in America will not hinder their transfer ventures with medical facilities available both on site and back in Leeds, for whichever is required.

On the subject of Thorp Arch, several pitches are being relayed ahead of the new season. A number of players have meanwile been left back in Yorkshire, including last season’s loaned-out players Largie Ramazani and Joe Gelhardt - and therefore are destined to leave.

Unlike Max Wober - whose contract was terminated by mutual agreement - all other players are set to leave for a fee, with there no possibility of a similar contract rip-up.

Jack Harrison is headed to the MLS and New England Revolution for a small figure while Ramazani and Gelhardt will help bolster the headspace within Squad Cost Ratio parameters.

As for other possible transfer incomings, Lyon attacking midfielder Pavel Sulc is one who has come across the radar of Leeds but the club does not hold active interest at present, with Brandt the number one target.

It is likewise with goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen of Belgian club Royal Union Saint-Gilloise. Leeds will not consider allowing Lucas Perri to leave until a new option - namely Trafford - is signed. But should a deal for Trafford be done, Torino are expected to make a formal approach for Perri.
