Juventus release statement after £34m Leeds United transfer

Juventus have confirmed how much they have made out of the second biggest transfer in Leeds United history.

The Whites last week confirmed they have signed Tarik Muharemovic from Italian outfit Sassuolo, in a deal reported to be worth £34.1million.

That makes the Bosnia & Herzegovina international the club’s second-most expensive signing behind Georginio Rutter, who joined from Hoffenheim in 2023.

Leeds went on to sell the Frenchman to Brighton a season-and-a-half later, as they did with Pascal Struijk earlier this summer.

Muharemovic was identified as Struijk’s replacement and put pen to paper on a five-year contract, but Sassuolo will have to send a large part of his fee to Juve.

The Serie A giants revealed exactly how much in a statement, reported by Tuttosport, which read: “Turin, 22 July 2026 – Juventus Football Club SpA announces that, following the completion of the permanent transfer of the player Tarik Muharemovic from US Sassuolo Calcio to Leeds United FC, completed on 16 July 2026, Juventus has acquired the right to receive a fee (so-called "sell-on fee") in accordance with the contractual agreements signed with Sassuolo in August 2024 upon the sale of the player's registration rights to that club.

“The transaction generates a positive economic impact on the current financial year of approximately €17.4 million, net of ancillary charges.”

Muharemovic played three times for his country at the World Cup and spent the previous two seasons at Sassuolo, first on loan and then permanently. He played 63 times for them, helping win promotion from Serie B in his first season and retain their status last term.
